An Analysis on Students Perception of The General Education Curriculum based on Core Competences in P University

Abstract
The purpose of this study was to analyze the performance and of general education based on core competences and to get the under-graduate students educational needs, and to propose the developmental direction of a general education course of P university curriculum. The participants of this study were 808 students who took the subjects of the general education course in the 2014 fall term. After taking the subjects, the survey asked students their opinions on achievements, improvements and important degrees of core competences. ANOVA was conducted to analyze the data for the important degree verification according to the fields of study. The results of this study are as follow. First, it is important that students were aware of the global capabilities and collaboration capabilities among core competencies. Second, the extent of collaboration capabilities and communication capabilities were surveyed most highly about achievement. Third, students said that global capabilities and problem solving capabilities are dealing with important in the curriculum. While collaboration capabilities and communication capabilities found that it improve through the curriculum based on core competences. Forth, general education course based on core competences was investigated by the lower response rate than the response rate does not match that comply with the seven core competencies of the P university. Fifth. depending on how many take general education subjects, the results of this was investigated as study the survey of general education courses, the greater the number of general education subjects taken were investigated the response does not match the core competencies of university. According to the ANOVA test of the students educational needs, different major groups showed no significant difference except communication capabilities. This study is significant to research on the results of operations of our core competencies curriculum by introducing a core competencies in general education curriculum. Through the perception of the students core competencies, this study identified the status and the effectiveness of general education based on core competences. The results of this study will be able to determine what core competency-based education curriculum is supplemented with directional elements need to be pursued in the P university, and get ideas for the Improvement of general education curriculum. It will also be able to become a base material through a follow-up study on such evaluation criteria as the preferred valuation method for measuring the effectiveness of training capabilities can improve the quality of the current operating core competency-based general education curriculum.
