Paper Review Regulations

Chapter 1 General Regulations

Article 1 (Regulation) The Korean Association of General Education establishes the rules for paper review in the 'Korean Journal of General Education'.

Chapter 2 Judging

Article 2 (Judges) The judges of the submitted papers shall be appointed by the editorial board.

  • 1. In principle, the Editorial Committee selects three judges from the relevant field for the submitted papers.
  • 2. The judges will judge according to the criteria set by the Society, and the final results of the judges will be notified to the Editorial Committee by marking them as four grades: “Publish, Publish with revisions, Revise and re-submit, and Rejected”.
  • 3. The judges are familiar with, and adhere to the ethics rules set out by this society.

Article 3 (Evaluation Categories) Papers are judged by certain criteria as follows.

  • 1. Compliance with submission format
  • 2. Creativity in the subject under research
  • 3. Appropriateness of the research method
  • 4. Feasibility of the research process
  • 5. Contribution of the research results to our knowledge

Article 4 (Exclusions) The following shall be excluded when assigning judges.

  • 1. Avoid judges from the same organization as the contributors.
  • 2. The author of the contribution cannot appoint a judge.
  • 3. The editorial board members and editors shall not participate in the selection and appointment of peer reviewer for the submissions which they are on the author list.

Chapter 3 Judgment

Article 5 (Judgment) The editorial committee has the final decision whether to publish a paper or not.

  • 1. The Editorial Board ensure contributors comply with revisions demanded by the judgment of the reviewers.
  • 2. The Editorial Committee decides whether or not to publish revised manuscripts for the papers that have been judged to be 'revise then re-submit'.
  • 3. The Editorial Committee decides whether to publish each paper by comprehensively reviewing the judges' decisions and the results of the review of the contribution.

Article 6 (Notice) The editor-in-chief informs the contributor of the decision of the editorial board and the opinion of the review panel.

  • 1. If the review panel deems revisions to be necessary, the editor-in-chief requests the contributing author make the revisions by specifying the content and deadline.
  • 2. After the final decision of the editorial board, the editor-in-chief informs the contributor of the result and reasons for the decision.

Article 7 (Reject) Unsolicited resubmission of rejected articles is not allowed.

  • 1. When resubmitting a rejected or revised paper, the editorial committee will check whether it has been corrected before accepting it.
  • 2. If corrections cannot be confirmed, the editorial board may summarily reject the application.

Article 8 (Objection) Contributors may request a paper be reviewed again if they disagree with the results of the review panel's review.

  • 1. The contributor may request the reconsideration only once by sending the details of the objection to the Editorial Committee within 3 days from the date of receiving the first notice of the examination result.
  • 2. If the academic contribution is recognized, the paper that has been requested for re-review at the request of the contributor will be re-tried with a new judge from the relevant field, and a final decision will be made at an editorial board meeting.

Chapter 4 Administration

Article 9 (Review materials) Review materials are managed by the Editorial Board.

  • 1. Selection of judges and their affiliation will not be disclosed.
  • 2. All review-related data will be kept by the Editorial Committee for 3 years.

Chapter 5 Supplementary Provisions

Article 10 (Others) Matters not specified by these regulation shall follow general practice.

Article 11 (Enforcement) These regulations shall take effect on February 1, 2022.

Paper Review Guidelines

  • 1. (Judging Ethics) The judges are familiar with and adhere to the ethics rules of the judges set by this society.
  • 2. (Judges’ Decision) The judges will notify the Editorial Committee of the final results of the review in four grades of 'Publish, Publish with revisions, Revise and re-submit, and Rejected'.
  • 3. (Review items) The review items for the thesis are: ① the degree of adherence to the paper format, ② creativity of the research subject, ③ appropriateness of the research method, ④ feasibility of the research process, ⑤ contribution of the research results.
  • 4. (Judging Procedures) The judging process goes as follows: ① calculating the grade, ② judgement, and ③ calculating the converted score. Examples of criteria for how scores are assigned, and scores for judgment and conversion are as follows.

  • 5. (Judging result table) The editing committee makes the final decision on whether a paper is to be published after the review results of the judges and the revision of the contributors.
