The Model for Effective Implementation of General Education in College

Abstract
The study aimed to develop the model for effect implementation of general education in college. In addition, the study examined what sub factors of the model need to be improved. Importance-Performance Analysis (IPA) was performed to validate the theoretical model that was established by literature review and focus group. Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) was conducted to suggest numerical priorities for each sub factors of the model. The final model includes 12 factors from four categories - organization, human resources, curriculum, and quality assurance. IPA found that establishing the academic organization to support general education in college, quality assurance systems, administrative office, equipment, and facilities to support general education are important among all other factors. Quality assurance was found to be important but need to be further improved. Based on AHP, the study suggests that priority may be given to provision of authority to the committee for general education in decision-making process, establishment of the systems to improve the quality of general education, the number of teaching staff, and running academic organization for general education.
