Abstract |
This study aims to suggest a reorganization direction and strategies for university’ liberal arts curriculum based on NCS(National Competency Standards) professional basic ability, through check the need for challenge about liberal arts curriculum, and think critically of the changes that liberal arts curriculum will bring, if NCS professional basic ability will be phased in liberal arts curriculum.
The results of the study is as in the following. First, liberal perspective as one of the traditional ways universities approach the liberal arts curriculum development does not meet social requirements as professional manpower training, also another perspective of the logic of the market accelerate dehumanization of education and society.
Second, if NCS professional basic ability will be phased in liberal arts curriculum have the merit that we can reduce disjunction between perspectives for liberal and logic of the market, and liberal arts curriculum and Major curriculum. But, if it does parochially misunderstand NCS professional basic ability as skill and technique, or not reinterpreted it based on aim and objectives of university, existing problems of liberal arts curriculum will get worse.
Third, I suggest, for NCS professional basic ability is successfully launched in liberal arts curriculum have to reinterpreted it based on aim and objectives of university using NCS professional basic ability as reference materials, need take shape until select of suitable teaching and learning methods and develop of extracurricular program. Also I suggest that establishment of the evaluation system for improvement of curriculum quality is needed. |
