Abstract |
Since the beginning of the 2000s, several Korean universities have endeavored to prepare the educational system to heighten the level of students’ humanities culture. The Communication Center at Sookmyung Women s University has been leading the program development for the cultivation of the students’ communication capability, based on the courses of Writing and Reading” and Presentation and Discussion . It has been becoming an object of the bench marking of other universities which have newly been noticing the importance of communication.
In the ten years since installing the courses for the cultivation of communication capability, the Reading in Humanities was established newly as an advanced course in this Communication Center. The goal of this course is to cultivate the ‘thinking power’ of students through reading the classics.
In this paper, I measured students course satisfaction and analyzed the results. To give a direction for the course. I suggested that the educational contents and educational methods have to be based on the students needs. It can be said that the meaning of this survey coincides with the educational goal of Sookmyung Women’s University; that is, the demand side education. Moreover, it is expected that this paper will be helpful to the program development of other universities which sympathize with the importance of liberal arts education. |
