The direction of engineering literacy education and the recent problems

Abstract
It is establishing Accreditation Board for Engineering Education of Korea (ABEEK) in 1999 that engineering education accreditation system is enforced actually in our country. The purpose of ABEEK is to solve the issues of “science and engineering field evasion phenomenon” and consult each other with industry and school for the management of quality into more superior competent education in each program of engineering college. “Engineering literacy” means non technical attitude that is not include from technology area among various ability that engineering students must possess at college level. That is, it means basis ability that engineering students should be learned with communication, engineering economy, management, law, society, moral principle, teamwork, leadership that is included of mathematics, science, engineering basis etc. Advanced foreign education system may be direction of engineering literacy education that is should be developed through trial and error for a long time, and develop accommodating circumstance of each country and relstic condition even if is that introduce this system.
