The effect of information technologies such as artificial intelligence, robots, and internet of things on society and industry is expected to be revolutionary. These predictions formed a consensus with the term fourth industrial revolution . Soft skills such as creativity and communication skills are emerging as the competencies required for engineers in an uncertain and rapidly changing social environment. This study defines the soft skills for competent engineers and investigates the effect of convergence and liberal arts education on soft skills improvement. This study collected data from students who take convergence and liberal arts curriculum of A college of engineering in Seoul. Survey questionnaires were distributed the same group at the beginning of the semester (315 responses) and at the end of the semester (317 respondents). The result shows that the convergence and liberal arts education improves convergence fluency, problem-solving ability, leadership, global mind, creative attitude, and convergence flexibility among soft skills.
