The Effects of Analogy Centered Writing Strategy on Creative Thinking Skills

Abstract
The purpose of this study is to examine the effects of analogy centered writing strategy on creative thinking skills of university students. Analogy centered writing strategy which is intended to cultivate problem solving skills, integrated thinking skills and creative thinking skills is developed and implemented for university entrants to find out the effects of teaching materials on creative thinking skills. We emphasize analogy in the process of creative problem solving because analogy has been known to play an important role in creating new knowledge and improving creative thinking skills. The creative thinking skills is measured by Torrance tests of creative thinking(TTCT). The results of paired T-test indicate that creative thinking skills of the students is improved (p<.01). The sub categories of creative thinking skills(i.e. fluency, flexibility and originality) are also improved(p<.01). In addition, the effects of teaching strategy are the same regardless of gender.
