Tasks and Issues of Curriculum Improvement of Liberal Arts Education in University by Systematic Approach

Abstract
This study aims to identify the various tasks to be solved and related issues which are theoretical and practical, when a university tries to improve its liberal arts education curriculum based on systematic approach. For this, characteristics of the knowledge-based-society and the 4th industrial revolution were reviewed and the improvement patterns of liberal arts curriculum in the universities and its limitations were discussed. Based on the review, the improvement tasks of liberal arts curriculum is concluded to need more systematic approach with perspectives of performance technology to understand all kinds of works and issues in the process of curriculum improvement. As result, the steps of systematic approach to improve the liberal arts curriculum were categorized into six phases.: Forming Foundation, Analysis, Curriculum Design, Course Development, Implementation, Evaluation. And more than 20 tasks and issues in total phases were derived and explained.
