So far, we have analyzed the contents of e-mail questionnaires for liberal arts educators, and found out the problems of the academic research classification chart of the Korea Research Foundation and looked for ways to improve them. In the new section of the Korea Foundation for Research on Liberal Arts education, they are responding in the order of Convergence studies in Liberal Education , Humanities Education and General Education . It seems to be necessary to reorganize the classification table of academic research fields . Overall, it is time to consider the location of liberal arts education in the Korea Research Foundation s Academic Research Classification Scheme.
The academic research and policy development on liberal arts and general education should be carried out more broadly and deeply, and it should be implemented in university. In Korea, we should actively nurture and support Korean Institute for General Education and Korean Association of General Education as think tank of Korean liberal education. The National Assembly should establish the Liberal Arts Education Promotion Act (tentative name) as soon as possible. |
