Abstract
The purpose of this study is to analyze the current situation and problems of the extra-curricular program in L University and to draw out the direction of extra-curricular programs to be connected with the core competences of the school by collecting information on the extra-curricular programs operated by each department and administering a survey. To accomplish this goal, we analyzed the status of extra-curricular programs run by mileage and conducted a survey on current students. The results of this study are as follows. First, among the extra-curricular program types, participatory programs are the most preferred by students and the most frequently operated but the actual participation rate was low. The dispatch type programs were favored by the students but have never been operated. It needs to be improved to reflect the needs of the students. Second, programs are operated in conjunction with the four core competences pursued by the university. However, they were biased to specific areas such as empathy competency and creativity competency. Thus, it is needed to open programs in all four areas for students’participation. Third, they answered that it would be appropriate to participate in the extra-curricular program operated by the university once a week and a department to guide and support the extra-curricular program would be needed. Therefore, it is needed to establish extra-curricular activity support department to encourage students’participation and manage extracurricular programs. The results of this study can be used as a basic data for systematic management to improve core competences by developing student-tailored extra-curricular programs, strengthening students’ competences, and presenting direction of extracurricular curriculum operation.
