Abstract |
The purpose of this study is to diagnose classics education and to show the keyword- central learning model of classics reading as a new dimension for cultivation of humanity. Although classics education is being settled down as a paradigm in general education, this is still characterized by communication training. Classics education and character education share the same educational goals in the value of life terms and in cultivation of humanity terms. Eastern and western classics are undoubtedly a most important treasure house of character education. Classics education for cultivation of humanity that I suggest, is able to help educational practice, that is a convergence zone of classics education and character education. Classics education focused on using of the concept of character keyword is expected to contribute to the expansion of moral judgment and social critical consciousness by case making and case study. Also, learners, who are trained to research on self-relation, social-relation and world-relation based on character keyword, contemplate on the maturity of self from personal and social perspective, communal value of life and coexistence with the people. For the realization of various educational benefits for cultivation of humanity in classics education, previous questions of external conditions of education must first be solved at the same time. |
