Abstract
This study investigates the effects of self-leadership competency on job search efficacy among college students. Based on previous studies on self-leadership competency and job search efficacy, the questionnaire items were developed. For the study, we conducted a questionnaire survey among 342 female college students in Seoul. The statistical analyses were performed using SPSS 23. The results were as follows. First, three types of self-leadership competency factors have been identified: ‘goal setting & self-regulation’, ‘imagination successful & self-talk’, ‘belief and assumption analysis’, ‘self-punishment’, ‘self-clues’, ‘self-reward’; the reliability and validity of these factors were proved. Second, the self-leadership competency of female college students found to have a partially significant effect on job search efficacy: goal setting & self-regulation factor, belief & assumption analysis factor and self-reward factor had a positive effect on job search efficacy. Third, between academic years, there were differences in goal setting & self-regulation factor of self-leadership competency and in job search efficacy. By majors, there were differences among goal setting & self-regulation factor, self-punishment factor, self-clues factor, self-reward factor. These results suggest that to improve the job search efficacy, self-leadership competency is necessary. In addition, it suggests that it is important to improve the effectiveness of job search efficacy by establishing self-leadership competency training that matches the characteristics of each major.
