Classifying the academic achievements and key competencies and analyzing the characteristics for K university students

Abstract
The purpose of this study was to classify heterogeneous latent class of K university students’ academic outcomes and to analyze the characteristics of each class. A academic outcomes included GPA as an academic achievement and five key competencies (liberal arts, communication, global, creative, and professional competency). To do this, A latent profile analysis using a three-step approach was performed. Based on the results, five latent classes were identified: a middle achievement-high competence, middle achievement-middle competence, middle achievement-low competence, low achievement-low competence and low achievement-lowest competence. A logistic regression analysis revealed that school related variables (number of extracurricular programs participation, number of book lending) were relevant factors which impact upon the classes after controlling for student related variables. Finally, the limitations of the current is study and suggestions for future research were discussed.
