Abstract |
Each university in Korea plans and runs pre-college and orientation programs for freshmen every year to help new students successfully adapt to college. However, in the orientation of freshmen and the operation of pre-college there have been some social incidents in recent years which have made the appropriateness of the orientation management.
There have been many improvements in this direction, but until now there has been little educational approach or institutional arrangements to support freshmen in the orientation program. The purpose of this study is to analyze the problems and to suggest improvement points by conducting a survey on the orientation of freshmen Through the survey and interview, we analyzed the current status of the orientation, its operation method, and the operating subjects, and then reviewed the operational problems of the overall orientation in detail.
Analysis of the orientation of freshmen in Korean universities shows that the major problems are lack of awareness about the main operator, problems with friendship activities by student council, realistic constraints of integrated operations of university authorities and student council, operation methods and drinking problems etc.
In order to solve these problems, it is necessary to establish a new relationship with the student council, to make more detailed educational programs that the freshmen want, and to provide more professional and academic guidance. |
