Abstract |
The purpose of this study was to identify the effectiveness of evaluation education through the test if the evaluation enhance undergraduates’ synthetic thinking. For this, evaluation education course in ‘A’ University was selected. That course was offered in 2016 Fall semester. The research participants were divided into two groups including 46 experimental group and 48 control group. The data from the both groups were analyzed through independent t-test, dependent t-test, and ANCOVA. The results of independent t-test for identifying homogeneity between experimental and control groups did not show the statistically significant difference in analyzing competency, evaluative competency, creating alternative competency. The statistically significant difference were identified in inference and emotion competencies. Dependent t-test for experimental group showed the statistically significant difference in analyzing competency, evaluative competency, and creating alternative competency between pre and post-test; however, for control group, only analyzing competency had statistically significant difference. For excluding the effects of pre-test score for inference and emotion competencies, ANCOVA was conducted. Inference competency showed the significant difference between experimental and control groups; however, there was no significant difference between the two groups. Based on the study results, the fact evaluation education may enhance synthetic thinking’s sub competency including analyzing competency, evaluative competency, creating alternative competency, and inference competency was identified. The meaningful implications were provided for developing and applying evaluation education course aiming to enhance students’ synthetic thinking competency. |
