Abstract |
Source-based Writing (SW henceforth) refers to a variety of writing process derived from source materials. The materials include every type of text, across genre, media and form, available during the writing process. Writers can utilize the sources not only as an object of citation but also as a foundation for creativity, in which they can discover and organize their own ideas. In virtue of its importance in university-level writing education, SW is accompanied by avid exploration of its educational principles and systematization of the theory of it. This paper aims 1) to examine educational elements highly pertinent to writing process of university students according to four dimensions: a) graded reading education, b) writing education, c) citation education, and d) the student’s major, and 2) to provide pedagogical theories and principles of SW. The established theories and principles will serve as a significant evidential basis fo devising various teaching models of SW. |
