Abstract |
The purpose of this study is to disclose the fact that writing critical essays can be a suitablemeans to achieve the objectives of literary education of promoting literary ability, self-examination and self-formation of the learner , centering on the course offered by the Dept. of Nursing at Pohang College. The course syllabus included literary reading, instructor s exposition, group discussions, presentation and essay writing.
In order to acquire the awareness of instructors and effectiveness of education on critical essay writing, a survey was conducted by categorizing the questions into academic achievement , writing , and critical thinking . The result revealed high level of satisfaction by the learners, which indicated that the learners refined their sentiments through reading literary works and positively carried out writing on self-examination. I put forth the problems and their alternatives throughout the lectures.
The model of literary course centering on critical essay writing includes all basic elective courses generally offered in a college, i.e. reading, discussion and presentation, and writing, and concurrently accomplished the objectives of literary education, improving literary ability and self-examination. |
