Abstract
At the Residential College (RC), the education is conducted in a way that living and learning are combined. This is the essential method which enables to advance the students academic competence, communication ability, and integrated thinking, along with the qualification and potential power to be leaders. The Yonsei University adopted the RC system for the first year students in order to develop the liberal arts education. The Yonsei College for Freshman, which handles the whole liberal arts education, was selected to conduct the RC education with its affiliated institute in charge of the professional RC education. Therefore, the system of House is formed: the Residential Master (RM) professors supervise each House, and the Residential Assistants (RA) are helping RMs with the whole range of education, living, and the programs for the first year students. In this article, the activities of RAs in the second semester of 2014 are analyzed in various ways, identifying the roles of RAs for RC education, and investigating the advanced model for the evaluation, sustenance, and supervision of RAs. In light of all these, alternatives to pursue the developmental Korean RC model are suggested, anticipating continuous RA education methods and transfigured roles of RA.
