The Suggestion on the Direction of Development for the College English Education: Based on the case of S University

Abstract
This paper suggests the direction to develop the College English education. In the 21st century, the college must educate students to learn how to develop various dimensional thought and creative imagination in order to voluntarily cope with rapid variations in social and cultural paradigms. For this, the college should develop and conduct research for the integration system of systematized and materialized General English’s and College English’s curriculum so as to correspond with the stream of a large historical revolution. Therefore, this study proposed the direction of development for the College English and the opening of a new general English textbook after analyzing the test of academic achievement of students that learned College English this semester at S University, and then on the basis of that, presenting the problems of the College English. This study concentrates on what program the university must develop for A group students and C group students in the test of academic achievement This study insists on basic wholeness factors such as 1) the induction of learning motivation, 2) the level-specific class organization, 3) text development consisted of various specialized articles, 4) educational philosophy and responsibility of a professor, and 5) general English textbook and research team constitution in order to maximize the efficiency of College English. After that, the college must expand and improve a new subject installation and an existing subject centering around established general English for students. These suggestions were 1) the course of a literary masterpiece reading, 2) the course of immersed TOEIC, 3) the expansion of TOEIC lecture, and 4) the consilience course of the cultivation of people. In short, the college must bring students up as democratic citizens through college life as well as after graduation on the base of having a correct understanding of the value of life.
