Education of Writing Autobiography for Establishing Self Identity - Focusing on Writing Future Autobiography

Abstract
For college student who are at starting point of their lives, education of writing autobiography is very important, in the perspective of establishing self identity. Writing autobiography in the process of backward, forward, analysis and synthesis suggested W. Pinar, interprets present and designs future, based on experiences of past. In this study, needs of such writing autobiography is reviewed, motivates book making, induces self-objectification with various methods of expressing narratives and seeks establishment of self identity in lecture of general writing for college students. Through this, the study suggests method to prepare future, communicate with both a self and others and to improve writing ability and applies it to class. The results of the analysis on texts and follow-ups submitted by students are as follows: First, writing autobiography contributes to establishment of self identity through communication with a self or others. Second, it also contributes to specific designing of future. Third, by using various methods of expressing narratives, uniqueness of an autobiography is expressed and it contributes to improvement of writing ability. Fourth, higher self-confidence on writing and experience of book making contribute to inspiration of continuing to write. Fifth, understanding other s life is higher through peer-editing. Finally, it contributes to one s positive values through expectation for future and responsibility.
