Abstract |
The 21st century clearly is the age of transition from the old to the new history of civilization, to the information and communication society. And in the age, general education(or liberal education) in university is emerging as an important value that is based in humanities. In order to properly respond to these transitions, the major universities in Korea has redefined the phase of general education, improved curriculum, and developed convergence course. University of Education, however, stay put very basic steps for the its correspondence. In this paper, therefore, we propose three directions of the following improvements in order to improve curriculum of general education, while we recognize that it need to University of Education in the present.
Firstly, in order to improve curriculum of general education, the executive office for charging curriculum of general education must be installed in University of Education.
Secondly, in order to improve curriculum of general education, it should be established as principle that humanities should be the core of composition of curriculum of general education.
Thirdly, in order to improve curriculum of general education, it needs to make an approach to convergence of curriculum of general education.
In conclusion, with above three directions, we wish to raise the discourse proper for improving curriculum of general education, as to propose a scheme of a concrete curriculum. |
