Study on the Types of Approaches to Creativity and Creativity and Undergraduate Education Program

Abstract
While the theory and the practice of higher education strongly emphasized the importance of creativity and its enhancement, relevant undergraduate program had not been sufficiently and successfully implemented them. This study showed that in order to develop creativity enhanced undergraduate course, the concept of creativity and the principle if its development should be specified. Approaches the creativity and the undergraduate creativity courses were categorized into several types and examined each implication: creative thinking development, contextual post-accreditation, cross-domain application, and meta-education based on a new education theory as an autonomous academic discipline. It is suggested that undergraduate course should be developed by considering each type’s strength and weakness and offering based on the educational aims. Finally, adding to instrumental and functional point of view to creativity, the intrinsic point of view that appreciate the creativity making process and engage the value of creativity itself should be encouraged in general education.
