Abstract |
This thesis intends to examine the symbolic characteristics on the Korean modern poetry(for example poems of Lee Moon-Jae, Ki Hyung-Do, Chung Ho-Seung) by using the thematic theory. I will describe how the poetic subjects of their poems are illustrated depend on using ‘death’ motif. By clarifying the mode of theme and motif, I will look into the poetry education as a general education course.
Though the symbolic meanings of ‘death’ have been changing according to ages or places, in his poems ‘death’ is the symbol of the last destination which poetic subjects realize the limit of being. The ‘death’ motif as a main topic in this thesis is the key concept to understand their poems which were presented in various styles.
In order to teach literature as a general education course, a teacher must instruct students in the ways of the world as a facilitator. A facilitator is someone who helps a group of people understand their common objectives and assists them to plan to achieve them without taking a particular position in the discussion to collaborate and achieve synergy. A successful facilitator embodies respect for others and a watchful awareness of the many layers of reality in a human group. |
