Thinking of The Formative Arts for General Education

Abstract
In the basic education of formative arts for holistic education, if the education focuses on simple expanding of knowledge and information without specific exploration, it shall cause damage of being-oriented education. Based on meaning and role of formative arts as general education, this study aims at exploring the contemporary literary key words of formative ideas-creativity and imagination. Integrated education in the formative arts is essential to acquire self oriented knowledge and thinking to counter this fast changing knowledge and situation, and it also intends to help to form verbal expression, aesthetic sentiment, value judgement, critical thinking and self identity. By linking paradigm change of the current formative arts caused by destruction of genre of multi-cultural society with creative concept of formative activity, it contributes to social communication and participation through sensitivity education. Thus, this takes an important position in artistic education. Forming a sense from feeling and sensitivity are expressed by means of aesthetic imagination. The imagination as an initiating power to reconstruct reality enables to clarify the understanding of general education through experiences of formative arts in terms of its fundamental and social aspect. This study attempts to re-illuminate meaning of formative artistic education as a stepping stone to get to advanced educational culture as public education simply beyond a specialized education in the examination of formative arts, education and its value and speculation of creative thinking.
