A Study on the Revitalization of Book Review Education by Analyzing Learner Levels - Focus on analysis and Reading Education for New Students in Science and Engineering in University

Abstract
The aim of this study is to check the writing level of science and engineering college students and propose a book review writing class model in order to strengthen college liberal arts education. Based on this work, this study tries to present the problems that appear in the actual operation of the class and the map measures for it. In particular, this study limits the subject of research to new students who have entered the science and engineering fields. Therefore, we want to explore more detailed ways to teach students how to write a book review. The class model is based on surveys and classes actually conducted at Seoul National University in the second semester of 2017 and the second semester of 2018. In this paper, we asked our students to check their lack of background knowledge about book reviews and later asked college freshmen who were not yet familiar with critical reading. It raised the need to focus on teaching analytical reading . As a concrete measure, the goal of this paper is to improve efficiency in the actual book review class by presenting the Analysis Item Table and introducing the actual text.
