The Effects of Self-Reflection Writing on Self-Esteem of University College Students

Abstract
University colleges are run to train professional workers. Therefore, vocational education is more important and the length of classes is relatively shorter than general universities. For this reason, the liberal arts education of university colleges has mainly performed the functions of basic majors, not independent ones. But the entry into the era of the 4th industrial revolution and rapid reduction of the school age population are progresses, not only practical subjects but also universal liberal educations that to foster healthy personality based on self-understand and self-esteem are needed. This study suggests self-reflective writing as a subject capable of performing these functions. And also confirmed that this self-reflective writing actually had a positive effects on the improvement of self-esteem among students. In conclusion, this study suggested that along with the practical education, the liberal arts education of university colleges should also provide a curriculum that enables deep understanding and reflection of human life and to develop the qualities of good citizen.
