Abstract |
The goal of this paper is to design an TOEIC English (ETP) teaching and learning model for the students who take intermediate level university English class and apply it to the actual class to examine its effectiveness on the learners’ academic achievement and their learning satisfaction. Based on the assumption of the flipped learning, TOEIC LC and RC vocabulary, listening sample questions, You Tube videos and grammar sub-materials were given to the students of experimental group and informed to study the material at home in advance. After 16 weeks, the posttest scores of 22 students showd a statistically significant improvement in RC test but not in LC test when compared with those scores of the control group. Secondly, learners in the experimental group were generally satisfied with the Flipped Learning lesson, reporting higher ratings on the increased level of motivation and their self-directed learning. Lastly, experimental group showd an increased level of understanding of the lectures through advance learning and active participation in discussion. Finally, it was suggested that the development of advance learning materials, improvement of classroom environment and the diversification of Flipped Learning teaching and learning models are expected to help learners excel in their academic achievement. |
