Abstract |
Recently, the paradigm of education has changed due to the 4th industrial revolution. In particular, due to changes in the educational environment, such as the decline in the number of students and drop-out rates, the university plans and operates various educational programs to attract freshmen and maintain the continuing education of students. This change is due to the change in perception of college freshmen and their importance, and it is necessary to pay much attention and research to the education for freshmen. The purpose of this study was to analyze the effects of the preliminary college program, which is the first step to prepare students for college life, as well as effective college life. As a result of the study, it was confirmed that the preliminary college has an important influence on the freshmen education of the college through the review of literature related to freshmen education. In addition, through the case of Dongguk University’s preliminary college program, it was found that freshmen had a positive influence on college adaptation and successful college life. The results of this study suggest that the universities should make changes in educational objectives, curriculum, contents of education, and educational methods in order to recognize the importance of preliminary college in freshmen education and to make it better. |
