A Study on Humor Education in Speech Education as University Liberal Education

Abstract
The purpose of this study is to examine utilization of ‘humor education’ as a way to improve interpersonal communication ability through speech education as university liberal education. In order to select contents of humor education which are used for speech education, humor is distinguished into the aspect of knowledge, the aspect of recognition, and the aspect of attitude. The aspect of knowledge, a foundation of learning the aspect of recognition and the aspect of attitude, is a concept and features of humor and its theoretical background. In the aspect of recognition, people cooperate to lead a conversation according to the purpose and direction of the conversation and possibly enhance their capability of interpersonal relationship by learning ways of using humor for resolving conflicts. In the aspect of attitude, moreover, people could gain ability of consideration and interpersonal perception by understanding who conversational partner is and whether the time or place appropriate is and avoid using mockery or humor of condemnation. Since university students will soon work in society, speech education as university liberal education should be operated in order to maintain good interpersonal relationship and advance communication ability in society as well as in college.
