A Study on Debate Class Plans for Foreign Students - Focusing on Activities in the Pre-debate Stage

Abstract
This study aims to establish CEDA(Cross Examination Debate Association) debate class plans for foreign students. Out of the three stages of debate, this study paid attention to the pre-debate stage that researchers have different opinions, and established such activities as organizing teams, choosing topics, supporting or opposing, learning the debate rule and order, learning debate expressions and drawing up debate outlines. Then, this study reviewed opinions and methods for pre-debate activities from previous studies and critically examined how they can be applied to an actual debate class as well as their effectiveness and values. In regard to what previous studies failed to explain clearly and different opinions between researchers, this study attempted to seek plans that can contribute to debate class. Besides, this study described problems and circumstances that may take place in debate class and proposed solutions. Based on the research results above, this study could make a desirable case of debate class for foreign students.
