Abstract |
Recently, education for freshmen in university has been emphasized because of its importance, so researches related with education for freshmen have been conducted actively. Especially, because first year in university could significantly impact on overall university life, many universities operate various education programs for freshmen. Academic Advising Program means that professors help students explore opportunities and develop abilities to achieve students’ goal in university life as well as their academic goal, Furthermore, it also means that professors help students develop their potential through continuous communication with students. The most of universities in other country run Academic Advising Programs based on division system, but in Korea, the most of universities educate students based on major instead of division system. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to provide characteristics of Academic Advising Program based on major and to suggest direction for development by considering the case of the Dongguk university PARAMITA college. Finally, this research proposes implication for effective academic advising based on major in an aspect of university’s structure, specialization of academic advising and systematic management for academic advising. |
