Abstract |
Nowaday, university education is facing a crisis. On the one hand, universities are given the task of cultivating an educated citizen through search of truth, on the other hand, they are not free from the feeling of pressure to foster the competent workers by increasing employment capacity. The university education focus on fostering employees to raise employment rates in a situation which a pragmatic type of talent with a practical sense have recently become a goal of university education. Until now, policies of university education have been implemented to increase practical abilities. However, it’s necessary to further discuss whether such educational reforms have had a profound impact on the development of student’s pragmatism. In the face of numerous reforms, it’s because the current university education are unable to present an alternative view suitable for the times.
The purpose of this article is to find a new prospect of university education that can increase industry-friendly and practical ability through the development and application of appropriate technology programs for Vietnamese society. First of all, we examine the educational crisis faced by current university education, also suggest concrete model of appropriate technology program as an alternative of university education. Second,we introduce the models of the appropriate technology designed and developed by students directly by focusing on the development process, core content, and field application. Finally, we review the impact of such appropriate technology products on the lives of local Vietnamese residents. In sum, this article intends to present the appropriate technology program developed and applied by students as a new possibility of university education that can improve field-friendly or field-based abilities. |
