Analysis of Status Quo and Satisfaction of Freshman Seminar in Korean University

Abstract
The purpose of this study was to examine how freshmen seminars, which have been introduced actively from 2015, are operated in universities and provide insight on how they can be improved. A self-report survey was conducted with 1,017 valid responses from students in 12 universities. According to the results, freshmen’s satisfaction of freshmen seminars is high. The seminars should be expanded and diversified for the present seminars have been mostly limited to orientation seminars. The topics of freshmen seminars should include character development(self-exploration, understanding others, etc.). Each class should be in groups with less than or equal to 40 students. Freshmen seminars should be consistently assessed and improved. This study would give implications to develop freshman seminar further.
