Abstract |
The purpose of this study is to examine how non-subject educational programs affect core competencies based on survey of perceptions and needs on those programs of K University students, and to suggest directions of non-subject education.
The non-subject educational programs of K University are classified into 3 domains, which are self-understanding, competency reinforcement, and experience, and experience domain affects the most on developing core competency of K University students.
The results and implications of this study are summarized as follows : 1) It is necessary to reexamine the correlation of which non-subject educational program affects on developing specific competency, and restructure existing programs in accordance with the necessity of developing competency of students actually, 2) It is necessary to expand the programs related to related to experience domain which influences academic achievement significantly, 3) It is needed to design student customized programs in order to enhance participation of students and effectiveness of program implementation.
Considering above results, the implication of this study is that it shows how universities should establish a variety of student needs-based non-subject educational programs and give a direction how they can lead students to experience different types of such programs and achieve their educational goals. |
