The impact of the closed SNS use on learning satisfaction in the liberal Korean education

Abstract
This study aims to examine the effect of the use of closed SNS, Naver Band, as a learning tool on learning satisfaction in the “Reading & Writing” class, which is the required course of the liberal Korean education at the University. In this study, students practiced writing using Naver Band on their smartphones during the class. The instructor focused on teaching creative and experiential content and short articles, and used Naver Band’s main functions such as bulletin board, chatting, member, poll, calendar, photo album, feed, and comment. For this study, the survey on the use of closed SNS was conducted. The result shows that the course using SNS has a positive effect on learning satisfaction in terms of convenience of learning process, reciprocity and interaction between a learner and an instructor, and sharing information. Learners’ writing to express their creative, open, and personal thought in a limited space was shared and understood by others’ viewpoint. And, the interaction of sympathy experience, which enables users feel their emotion together through comments, was effective in improving learning satisfaction.
