A study on Bildungsroman for Writing and its Utilizing - Focusing on integrated education of reading and writing

Abstract
This study starts with the premise that should be presented the effective method of writing education connected reading in the basic liberal arts education requirements in order to improve the writing proficiency of college students. In such premises, first of all after researching Bildungsroman historically, it cites the expressive (autobiographical) writing plan as its utilizing. In literary criticism, a Bildungsroman is a literary genre that focuses on the psychological and moral growth of the protagonist from youth to adulthood (coming of age), in which character change is extremely important. In this regard, after reading this Bildungsroman (here for example, James Joyce 『A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man』 and Thomas Mann 『Der Zauberberg』), the students can express their thoughts in reflective writing. Concretely, self-exploring can expand to reflection about society, to introspection about the world. This study is an example of new plan presentation for writing education, more to the point, this paper is not the case-study of a certain specific university, not the software access method such as writing lecture, instruction and feedback system. But it will present an example of the general integrated education about reading and writing. If so, it will be another example to fill out the text based on reading poetry or drama work as well as (Bildungs)roman.
