A music learning method for the development of creativity in liberal education

Abstract
This study aims to explore ways to enhance the creativity of college students in light of the nature of their characteristics of creativity. To this end, first, I examined the factors associated with the creativity of college students on the basis of previous studies. As a result, their creativity appears to be highly correlated with not only the cognitive aspects but also the motivation. It means that motivation is an important factor for the development of creativity of the college students and curriculum. But it appears that creative thinking among the content of the present curriculum is the highest percentage regardless of the liberal arts or major. Therefore it is necessary to develop course of study in light of not only the cognitive aspects but also affective aspects. Second, music offers effectively the immersion experience which is an important condions for manifestation of creativity, practically the creativity enhancement effects were identified by many research results. Thus, it is important for college students to develop creativity through music. In particular, as music beginners of liberal arts college, there is a need to express their inherent creativity no matter whether they have any musical skills or not. Third, thus, this study proposed music learning plan and real class case from the standpoint of a strong corelation between creativity and motivation in the students characteristics, especially as a non-music major in the liberal arts college, their inherent creativity should be so expressed away from the limitation of musical techniques and music theory, etc. that creativity is ultimately improved.
