Operating cases study for subject writing education using workshop - Duksung Women s University Understanding and Communication 2 : Focusing on the subject writing class

Abstract
Subject writing is a compulsory liberal art subject of Duksung Women s University. In Subject writing class, the students select one topic from three major subjects such as in the first class and they complete a research essay by the end of the term. This class not only improve the writing skills, but also provide opportunities to explore the issues that students should reflect as members of society. The number of enrollees can not exceed 20 students and the class is operating by workshop style. The workshop style class uses four steps such as 1) mini lesson, 2) writing activity, 3) discussion, 4) sharing (publishing). By making a small scale classroom environment for workshop and by utilizing the Duksung portal as online community, teachers and students can share and discuss the progress and output of writing in a timely manner. As a results, students can learn communication method and negotiation method by communicating with teacher and colleague. Most students get confidence and interest on writing and they have are developed to the stage that they can do planning the next stage writing. As an improvement plan, strengthening connection with basic writing, strengthening of feedback and counselling, mitigation of evaluation, establishing data base of three subjects area, strengthening of professor s teaching skill, extension of three subject area and connection with major field writing can be issued. This subject writing class, understanding and communication two shows better lecture method for the student, This study can be a good guide to enhance the quality of class.
