An Exploration on Instructional Support Model for Convergence Education with the Form of Class-Specific Courses in General Education

Abstract
The zeitgeist of knowledge-based society is change and innovation. In response to its request, college education is being asked to do convergence education. And general education as the basis of convergence education is strengthened. The purpose of the present study is to explore an instructional support model for convergence education with the form of class-specific courses in general education. In order to achieve the purpose of the study, first, theory and policy research on general education and theory of instructional supportive environment were summarized. Second, the theory of convergence education and instructional support system for general education were investigated. Third, a model of instructional support system for convergence education was suggested with the form of class-specific courses in general education. General education as the core values of university education is not teach a specific knowledge and skills, however, it’s purpose is to cultivate students’ ability to understand, judge, and utilize them in daily social life. Thus, in order to operate convergence education with the form of class-specific courses in general education, we should appropriately utilize various conditions and environments such as instructional design, educational methods, instructional support system, and support agencies.
