To Seek Homo empathicus : A Study on the Empathy Discourse-based Character Education

‘호모 엠파티쿠스(Homo empathicus)’를 찾다
As the world is at the end of the second industrial revolution based on fossil fuels, renewable energy and Internet technology are merging to create the third industrial revolution. Therefore, the industrial age of unlimited competition is giving place to the collaborative age of co-existence. It evokes the importance of relationship, empathy and solidarity between the global village people. In addition, collaborative interest , connectivity and interdependence are the important factors determining the quality of life. I think that the future character education is expected to seek the new human character. This study is on the empathy discourse-based character education which seeks Homo empathicus as the new human character. To accomplish it, this study consists of three parts, as follows: The first is to examine the economic development discourse-based character education and its human character. The second is to survey the national human resource development-based character education and its human character. The third, by introducing the features of new age and extracting the concept of empathy from the empathy discourse, and thus, exploring the empathy discourse-based character education and its human character, I suggest Homo empathicus as the human character of new character education.
