Abstract |
The purpose of a first year new student program is to help university freshmen learn effective studying methods for a university education, inspire them for self-reflection, and establish their vision. The study explores a first year new student program for university freshmen run by a university before the new term. The analysis on their responses to the program suggests some implications for more successful management of a first year new student program. First of all, it is required to consider the characteristics of a higher education environment at the age of postmodernism. And a first year new student program is needed to differentiate its subprograms based on characteristics of university freshmen, to attract voluntary participation from them, and to encourage emotional interaction among them. It is strongly related to more effective enforcement of a integrated education method of a basic knowledge for university freshmen during a first year new student program. |
