Abstract |
Previously, in thinking and expression lessons, students are only taught with debating procedures or theory on means of debating and classes only demonstrates few examples. This paper proposes new model where all the students are be able to participate in class by actively participating in actual debate.
Argumentive writing and debating have few in common where they are both have purpose in persuade audiences by proposing personal opinion with proper reasoning which is based on reference related to the argument. However, in actual class, there are not many chances of having debating training since all the argumentive writings are given a practice task.
Most of the first year students does not have background education on debating. Also determining controversial issue, que card with basis of the argument, pre-debating and its feedback is necessary in order to have proper debating. Therefore most of the teachers have hard time proceeding the debating class. However, in order to solve conflicts and problem in the developing society, debating is necessary to first year college students. Therefore, this paper proposes a argumentive writing and academic debate debating model to seek the way to nurture true sense of academic debate by overcome the limitation of current debating class, find the true meaning of debating and become proficient at debating.
Among a model of integrate writings and debating, this paper choses to deal with writings before academic debate. This method proposes to have practice in writing student s opinion with argumentative sense and then participate in debate with same topic. |
