Abstract |
The main purpose of this study is to provide a strategy and a model of actively integrating a liberal arts course into a field experience learning in order to help develop liberal arts courses in a new way and improve their quality. There exist a variety of difficulties to accomplish a field experience learning in liberal arts courses to gain diverse experiences. Despite of the difficulties, the field experience learning that students go along with an instructor highly increased students’ satisfaction since it is offered. Even it helped change students’ perception of particular issues.
“Presentation and Discussion” course as a required liberal arts course at Dongduk Women’s University offered an opportunity of “a filed experience learning about the unification education for female undergraduate students” as part of experience and exploration of society and culture. This field teaching provided the students with an opportunity of gaining valuable experience to directly feel the realty of the partition and truce state of the Korean peninsula. Despite of these educational effects, there are various issues for an instructor to actively apply this field experience learning to education. To solve these problems, models of creative field experience learning that universities support should be developed. |
