Abstract |
Recently, there has been much interest in developing competence assessment tools inside and outside of the country, but few studies have discussed how to make use of their results. Based on this lack of research, this study proposes plans for use of assessment, focusing on the connection between assessment and curriculum, in order to improve competencies of college students through curriculum. First, this study analyzes existing assessment tools to evaluate college students’ competencies in Korea and abroad. It examines AHELO of OECD, CLA of the United States, and GSA of Australia as representative foreign assessments, and K-CESA of Korea Research Institute for Vocational Education & Training, SM-CLA of Sookmyung Women’s University, SCCA of Sungkyunkwan University, and Core Competencies Assessment of Konyang University as Korean competence assessments. Second, it reviews existing application cases and plans of assessments, and proposes diverse plans and an application model through which those involved can make use of the results. Third, it presents plans to design academic-curriculum and extra-curriculum in which universities can reflect the results of competence assessment. It suggests application plans through ‘competence course’ and ‘ordinary course’ as academic curriculum plans, and extra-curriculum programs to develop particular competencies. |
