Abstract |
The purpose of this study is to seek and develop new teaching methodologies to take advantage of movies in written education. Natural science students are likely to be further from writing practice than liberal art students however natural science students should be taught writing education efficiently. Through a survey of characteristics of natural science student s writing, there was a large gap between liberal art students and natural science students in terms of expression, thinking and in the necessity of writing itself. Accordingly, through an assignment of writing critically about something, writing a movie review turned out to be an efficient way.
As for the aspect of expression, vocabulary can be improved through the acquistion of conceptual terms and there are ways to practicalize these skills. Also, configuarability can be improved by writing five paragraphs of configuration relating to the content of movies regarding social issues. The analyzing and critical and logical thinking can be improved through making five questions and answering them before writing. Moreover, through a movie related task with writing, students find out how writing is a process of self reflection and it can build the awareness of the need of writingThus, I applied the methodologies above and made students write a review of a movie. Through the comparison of liberal students reviews and natural sciences s, differences in more efficient and concrete teaching methods were derived.
It s hard to say this dissertation found any discrimination way to natural science students against liberal arts students, though there is a significant meaning that this method can be a complement to both parties, which natural science students lack especially. |
