Abstract |
This study has begun to find ways to carry out better general education for building up global mindset, which is a verified key factor to develop global leadership and improve corporate performance in global and multi-cultural era. The study was conducted on the basis of two research materials.; one is theoretical review on the global mindset from a human resource development perspective, and the other is case study and contents analysis on the corporate global education.
The research result shows that the global mindset which comes from the integration and responses to diverse markets and cultures is a complex multi-dimensional competency structure combined with cognitive aspects, existential openness, and behavioral aspects altogether. Therefore, to carry out global mind-set education training as a general education course for college students, some suggestions can be offered as follows. First, competency-based curriculum design & development is required. First, competency-based curriculum design & development is required. Second, behavior indicator of global mindset needs to be developed through competency modeling. Third, abstract conceptualization, concrete experience & feedback, and reconstruction by reflection should create a virtuous learning cycle. Fourth, in addition to general education on global mindset, formal learning like language training and informal learning such as living abroad or international exchange experiences should go side by side to be more effective. If the curriculum can be designed and developed on the basis of these suggestions above, general education will be able to contribute to the basic qualification of global leaders who can bring practical outcome. |
