Abstract |
The purpose of this study analyze the case of Chonnam National University(CNU) that has reorganized 2011 to 2014 Liberal Education curriculum and promoted various educational policies for substantiality of Liberal Education through Center for General Education since 2010. Also, this study will revel the features of Liberal Education of CNU and explore development strategies for Liberal Education of universities. The feature of Liberal Education at CNU is struggling to keep substantiality of core liberal arts that students have to take more than 1 subject(3 credits) in each of 4 Core Liberal Arts areas. Also, CNU is running various programs in order to explore development strategies and induce reform of Liberal Education systematically and substantially. The result of this study, the universities have to properly establish the nature and role of the Organization that is managing Liberal Education as well as reinforcing the power of it in order to promote substantiality and development of Liberal Education. In addition, they have to reorganize system which is the compleion of the Liberal Education curriculum It means students should take liberal arts during 4 years though distributed completion system With revamps of system, they need to develop unique liberal arts including spirit and characteristic of university. |
