An Essay for Configuration of Textbooks and Syllabus for College Writing Course

Abstract
We found the following facts after checking the characteristics of textbooks and syllabus to improve the college writing courses. Writing materials of the university until the 1990s were composed of a knowledge-based, instructor-led classes of teachers was conducted. Since 2000, students activity and the teachers correction were stressed. However, the lack of consistency in configurations of textbooks and syllabus and to form the organic relationship was found to be limted. The ways to improve textbooks and syllabus are as follows; Based on students needs and reactions, textbooks should be diversified the example sentences and strengthen exercises rather than theoretical description. On syllabus, students practice rather than teacher s lecture, practicing completion of writing, feedback by teachers correction must be designed into the core. And in order to achieve the goals of writing course, a four-credit course with two lectures rather than a three-credit with a lecture is an effective strategy.
