An Example of Reading Classics that Combines a Full-length Reading with Topic Discussion and Writing -Dostoevsky's

Abstract
This paper examines the case of how to read The Brothers Karamazov in the subject of Reading Classics and then introduces the feedback of the students.
First of all, in this paper the original text and the digest version of The Brothers Karamazov were compared and examined. Following this, the reason for reading the original text itself was examined. Next, with the students who recognized the importance of the original text, the discussion about the possibility of various interpretations was considered by converting their passive reading behavior into an active one by using the internal and external context of the work. Finally, we introduced the activity of writing feedback, which can allow instructors to estimate to what degree their learners have accepted the process of their class.
There are three things that can be confirmed through the analysis of this paper. First, the background knowledge of the novel, the author's personal information, and the text are not separate, but all are combined. This type of analysis can serve to promote creativity and critical thinking among the students. Second, students can discover the meaning of such classics from a different perspective than the existing commentary by writing an article which draws from their majors and applies it to the classics. Third, this study shows that the process starts with instilling doubts among the students about the theme of the text, which up until then everyone has taken for granted. The students then arrive at the author's worldview through the process of organically examining the text and the external context. This reasoning process can arouse the curiosity of the learner.
